Morne Delport presents the workshop
William Mbuta, SAIS Country Representative
SAIS partnered with SARIMA to host Knowledge Exchange Tour plan 13-17th October 2014. Seno Namwandi and Pedro Massinga from the Regional Connect Project formed part of the tour. The Knowledge Exchange tour aimed to expose the partner countries to Technology Transfer Offices based in Cape Town. The tour, included visits to various tertiary institutions that have TTOs with the aim of bringing into contact the partners with the ins and outs of managing a Technology Transfer Office (TTO). This was to show the importance of having a TTO and what the practical implication is to the associated tertiary institution and it’s beneficiaries. Participants were exposed to the structure of a TTO, which looked at the governance of such an office and the organisational structure which gave a clearer understanding of the staffing related to such an office. The organisational process and operations were also observed which gave clarity on the policies that should be in place and the daily workings of such an an office.
